| Customer Reviews: Media Sciences does work with Phaser 8560 March 23, 2010 Felix Schweizer (LA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After a lot of deliberation and aware of the negative reviews that Media Sciences gets, e.g. in the other post here, I decided to go ahead and order this ink. When we got an out-of-ink error, I popped in the cubes, mindful of having the numbers pointing downwards (e.g. earth-wards!). The reason they are a different shape is that Xerox patented the shape (can you believe that?!) but it really does not matter, except that the fit into the slot is not so snug anymore. If this bothers you enough to pay twice as much for Xerox ink, then you absolutely should and please drop me an email, I have some other stuff to sell....
After adding the ink, I closed the printer and - oh horror - the message was not gone and I could still not print. Restarting etc did not solve the problem.
I was very frustrated and called, then emailed customer service of Media Sciences. I never got through on the phone, but within maybe half an hour of emailing, I got an email message back, with detailed instructions on how to clear the ISC Fault. I tried, but could not get it to work.It being late at night, I decided to call it a day. To my surprise, I had a second email the next morning from Media Sciences following up and asking me whether it solved the problem. I wrote back to tell them that indeed it had not. Within minutes a friendly Media Sciences rep calls me on my phone and walks me through a different procedure to clear the ISC Fault, the PS NVRAM and the PE NVRAM. After a restart all worked like a charm and we are back in printing business.
Four take home messages:
1) Media Sciences rocks! I have never gotten such attentive customer service.
2) Their ink works just fine in the Xerox Phaser
3) The original problem was with the printer in not resetting properly and had nothing to do with me adding 'incorrect' ink.
4) I do not understand why Xerox does not publish the procedures on how to clear the ISC Fault since it seems to be a frequent culprit in Phaser problems.
I for one will continue to save a bundle by buying Media Sciences ink!
This does not work in the Xerox 8560 October 25, 2008 Steve Shimkus (Glenview, IL United States) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This solid ink cube is not the same shape as the genuine Xerox 8560 solid ink cube and the Xerox 8560 will not recognize that it is installed and will continue to display an "out of ink" error message. Adding a 2nd one doesn't change the outcome. They might be for a different Xerox printer but they will not work in the Xerox 8560.
