Great cartridge June 11, 2010 Zombie (Sunnyvale, CA) I've been buying cartridges for my HP printers since the first Laserjet came out. If you want to spend a ridiculous amount of money, you can buy a new cartridge from HP. This is the closest I've seen to that quality and the price is very reasonable.
The shipping speed and packaging is very, very good and the customer service, should need it is absolutely top notch.
Lowsy Printer Cartridge June 6, 2010 John C. Dahl (Phoenix) This replacement cartridge was a piece of JUNK!!!
It causes streaks and blotches all over my print copy.
It took me a half hour to clean up the printer after just two pages.
I bought a Genuine HP cartridge at a local store and it worked perfectly
DON'T BUY ANY OF THESE CARTRIDGES FROM THIS OUTFIT
"new" but sat on the shelf for many years April 28, 2010 it (Sunnyvale, CA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
From all exterior visible stickers etc., this is a brand new Xerox cartridge. Unfortunately they have finite shelf lives. The first ten pages printed properly and over the next twenty a vertical gray streak appeared and got wider and darker. I tried running a few pages with rubbing alcohol on them through and the streak got narrower again, but went to full width and darkness in another ten printed pages.
I then went downtown to a retail store and bought a brand new HP made toner cartridge ($125) which has been printing flawlessly for several dozen pages so far. This means that the above described problem was caused by the ancient Xerox cartridge and not the remainder of the printer.
cartridge was a flop April 27, 2010 Suzanne We have had our HP printer for years and don't make many copies. The kids use it for homework and we use it occationally. We had a Xerox cartridge earlier so I thought I'd try one again. At first it worked great but after a month and probably 200 copies we started getting a gray vertical streak just to the left of center. The cartridge was suppose to be new but was probably refurbished - I'm very disappointed.
OK so far (two prints), this is actually a recycled cartridge! January 17, 2010 D. Musicant (Berkeley, CA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
In the past I always used new HP cartridges for my HP4M Laserjet, which I've had since about 1995. About 2002 I spotted a good deal on them and bought a couple. Mistake. Toner cartridges have a shelf life, even when in their unopened packaging. It's roughly double that of one which has been removed from packaging. Both of these cartridges started producing bad prints (gray vertical streaks, sometimes bad definition in print) long before exhausting their toner supply. The last one only gave me a little over 1000 prints before this started happening. Research indicates the problem is probably the wiper blade, which is part of the toner cartridge. Some of the prints were nearly unreadable and I started looking for a replacement last week. This Xerox looked to be the best bet.
The Xerox is NOT new, I discovered when I read the box info. It has some recycled components, don't know what, but the outer shell, for sure. The one I got looks pretty scratched up, and there was toner on my hands when handling it, and I was worried that it would be an RMA. However, the first two prints (Windows Test Print and HP4M Self Test), came out fine, so it's probably OK. I'm told that it's normal for these toner cartridges to leak some toner, they are far from leak proof. Says Made in Mexico, whereas the HP it replaces says Made in China. The shells look the same, so I surmise that Xerox is recycling the HP shells. Well, I hope I'll get > 6000 prints like I used to. Lesson, NEVER buy toner until you NEED it! After ordering at Amazon I found a better deal ($12 less), but I figure it might not have been a good idea to order from a company that severely undersells the competition when it comes to toner cartridges. What guarantee would I have that it is not gray goods (pun intended, sorta). It could have been sitting on a warehouse shelf somewhere for years.
The Xerox includes a mailing label for my old cartridge, which although an HP (the only obvious difference appears to just be a small sticker on the cartridge) obviously should work fine for them in their factory. The recycling info says the mailing label is for DHL, but it's actually UPS in my box.
