GO-DPS Does Not Actually Sell Verbatim May 7, 2010

I ordered this Verbatim cartridge ("Verbatim offers one of the most comprehensive lines of premium quality laser cartridges for today's most popular printers. Utilizing Mitsubishi technology...") and was promptly shipped a "Generation Imaging Consumables" unit by GO-DPS. Generation seems to have no reputation or a terrible one from online searching.
I've been buying Verbatim products since the '80s (they made the best 5 1/4" floppies under heavy use conditions!) and I don't like paying for one thing and getting another, so I requested a return. GO-DPS politely said that people like their cartridges a lot, but they would give me a full refund. They also said that there is an actual GO-DPS page somewhere that says this cartridge is not actually the Verbatim brand on the listing, but I have failed to find such a page.
I include this here as a warning, hoping others will see it. Apparently the way this works is Amazon puts up a listing and then various independent companies click a button to attach themselves to it. I suppose Amazon can't possibly verify with everyone that they actually plan to ship the item listed.
Update: I checked with "greattoners" and they report that they also do not have the Verbatim brand. They actually believe that it works like this: someone makes a generic toner listing, a bunch of companies connect themselves to it, and then someone else edits it and inserts specific brand name information. The change is not run by the other companies, who remain attached to it. The companies ship out their own brands and then most customers live with it.
This is no excuse, however. The order comes to them saying "Verbatim" verbatim. It's on the receipt GO-DPS sent me with the toner. They can't possibly be totally unaware of the bait-and-switch.
For $20 less (!), I ordered the equivalent toner manufactured by imation from [...]. They promised that their advertised brand is their actual shipped brand. (I think buy.com would have saved $7 more, but I'm giving up here.)
